I just setup my new mac pro, but was unable to connect to AOL Instant Messenger via Apple iChat. I kept getting this error message:

ichat lost connection with aim

I had no other internet connectivity problems...

The solution is to go into the iChat Preferences, click on Accounts, and then select your AIM account. Click Server Settings and change the port to 443.

That did the trick for me, AOL AIM is working great now.

I've never had a problem like this until I tried to sign on at a freind's place. Like someone else said, no other connection problems, so I was like WTF, the internet will know... and the internet DID know. I love the internet. Thank you for the help.

The first time I opened up my preferences my password (which is regularly *******) was showing up as ************ - 5 characters longer! It's so weird. So I changed my password, it worked for that night, and then it was back to normal. I tried logging on for the 4th day and when I opened my preferences I had to change the password again, but this time it didn't work. The server change works, but I'm hoping that that's the end of it. Thanks!
